Strengthening Communities Through Literacy and Anti-Trafficking

At Initiative for Transformation Nepal (InT-Nepal), we believe that literacy is the foundation of sustainable community transformation. Our Strengthening Communities Through Literacy and Anti-Trafficking Program integrates adult literacy with awareness, psychosocial support, livelihood skills, health education, legal awareness, and child education support to address the root causes of human trafficking, child labor, and child marriage.

Education is at the heart of our work. Through street dramas, school awareness programs, parent education, and collaboration with community watch groups, teachers, and local stakeholders, we equip communities with the knowledge and skills to prevent trafficking and protect vulnerable women and children. By strengthening families socially and economically, we help build safer, more resilient communities where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

Over the past three years, more than 600 community members have directly benefited from our literacy programs implemented across 3 wards of Bagmati Rural Municipality, Makwanpur District. The program empowers participants to recognize and prevent human trafficking within their homes and communities while improving literacy, life skills, and self-confidence. Delivered through a one-year, three-level learning package, it enables women, girls, and families to build brighter futures and contribute to lasting community transformation.
